Ashwagandha
As I’m sure you’re all aware, some (or if you’re like me, a lot) of days when you’re a mother are stressful! And not the kind of healthy stress that our body recovers easily from (Eg a sprint down the road, or running out of the water when a freak wave comes), but more of a chronic, tired but wired, on edge kind of stress! Our days can be long, our lack of personal space, of self care, of sleep all add up, our constant worry and guilt that we put on ourselves wondering if we are doing the right thing and dealing with a baby or toddler (or both) screaming and demanding from you all day!
Something I’ve found incredibly beneficial for me in my postpartum journey is the use of adaptogens - and for me personally - ashwagandha has been very helpful! Adaptogens are nerve tonics, used to uplift our mood, reduce anxiety and reduce stress. Ashwagandha in particular is great at reducing irritability (something I definitely need 😂).
My favourite way of incorporating adaptogens are in smoothies as it feels less like a supplement that way and the flavour is masked by other goodies!
